Today's quotation:

The key to cherishing yourself is recognizing that you are valuable, lovable and definitely worth being cherished.  Once you are ready to make this decision for yourself, you will discover an inner confidence that was trapped just behind your fears.

Today's Meditation:

What has value in this world?  Gold?  Silver?  Money?  Stocks and bonds?  I can tell you one thing that definitely has value in this world of ours:  you do.  You have more potential than you can ever imagine-- potential to encourage, to help, to lift up, to teach, to create, to express.  You are valuable, whether you acknowledge that fact or not.  Not acknowledging it may keep you from reaching your potential, but it doesn't change the fact that you have just as much value as any other human being on this planet.

A dollar bill that's spent for something has realized its value, and it's being used to fulfill that value.  If it had a mind, it would know exactly what it was worth.  A dollar bill that sits in a drawer or under a mattress has exactly the same value as the other one, but it's doomed not to realize that value-- it's always going to be full of potential value because it isn't being used.

You are worth a great deal.  All human beings on this planet are.  Who are we to claim that we have no value when we've been created by the same loving being or force that created everyone else?  You are lovable, as is everyone else, and if you feel that you're not perhaps you're expecting love to come from sources that aren't yet capable of expressing love.  Or perhaps you haven't yet allowed yourself to accept yourself and cherish the being that you are-- and it's hard to feel lovable when we don't even love ourselves.

Cherish yourself, and others will cherish you.  Love yourself, and you allow others to love you.  And once you reach this point, the confidence that you've been seeking will come, and you will begin to make a start at reaching your true potential.  But first, love yourself.  Or nothing else will follow.

Questions to consider:

What does it mean to you to "cherish yourself"?

Is your confidence hiding behind your fears?  How might you get your fears out of the way?

Do you know people who respect and cherish themselves genuinely?  How do you feel when you're around them?

For further thought:

Love yourself first and everything else falls into line.  You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.
